Allergy & Asthma Clinic in Clear Lake, TX

Our allergy and asthma clinic serving Clear Lake, TX provides expert care for patients in the NASA / Clear Lake corridor, including Clear Lake City, El Lago, Nassau Bay, Seabrook, Kemah, Webster, Friendswood, and League City — covering ZIP codes 77058, 77059, 77062, and surrounding southeast Houston communities. The Clear Lake area’s proximity to Galveston Bay creates unique allergy challenges: high year-round humidity, persistent indoor and outdoor mold, salt-air-influenced dust, and the same Gulf Coast pollen profile that drives symptoms across Houston. Our board-certified allergists help you cut through symptom-chasing and get to the actual root of the problem.

Our Mission

We offer the complete range of allergy testing and treatment: environmental skin testing, food allergy testing with supervised oral food challenges, drug allergy testing (including penicillin de-labeling), venom testing for severe insect reactions, and patch testing for contact dermatitis. Most testing is performed in-office, with results discussed the same day. For long-term relief, we provide allergen immunotherapy — both subcutaneous allergy shots and sublingual options for select allergens — customized to the specific oak, grass, ragweed, cedar, mold, dust mite, and animal dander sensitivities most common in the Clear Lake area.

Asthma is exceptionally common in Clear Lake patients because of the combination of humidity, mold, and ozone. We use objective testing — spirometry, FeNO, and bronchodilator response — to make sure asthma is what we’re actually treating, not vocal cord dysfunction, allergic rhinitis, reflux, or another mimic. For patients with severe asthma, eosinophilic phenotypes, nasal polyps, atopic dermatitis, or chronic spontaneous urticaria, we provide biologic therapy in-office, including Dupixent, Xolair, Nucala, Fasenra, Tezspire, and Cinqair, with prior authorizations managed by our staff.

FAQs

Common Questions

Three reasons: humidity stays above 60% almost year-round, occasional flooding from heavy storms creates hidden water damage, and the temperature differential between air-conditioned interiors and humid exteriors causes condensation around windows, vents, and inside HVAC systems. The result is persistent indoor mold growth, which drives chronic congestion, post-nasal drip, asthma, and sinus issues. Mold-specific testing tells us which species you react to and what to do about it.
Yes. New patients typically have skin testing performed during the initial visit (provided they haven’t taken antihistamines for 5 to 7 days prior). Results are read within 15 to 20 minutes and reviewed with you that day.
Most patients notice meaningful improvement between 6 and 12 months after starting therapy. Full benefit is typically reached after 2 to 3 years, and the full treatment course is 3 to 5 years. The long-term effects often persist for many years after shots are completed.
Yes. Chronic urticaria (hives lasting more than 6 weeks) is one of our most commonly treated conditions. Most cases are not caused by food. We use a systematic workup and stepwise therapy, including Xolair (omalizumab) for patients whose hives are not controlled by antihistamines alone — with excellent results.
Alpha-gal syndrome is a delayed allergic reaction to red meat (beef, pork, lamb) caused by sensitization following Lone Star tick bites. Symptoms appear 3 to 8 hours after eating mammalian meat and can include hives, GI symptoms, or anaphylaxis. If you spend time outdoors around Clear Lake, Galveston, or the surrounding wooded areas and have had unexplained reactions, testing is reasonable.
Yes — we welcome new patients and accept most major insurance plans, including TRICARE and most federal employee plans. Same-week appointments are routinely available.
