Allergy & Asthma Clinic in Midtown, Houston

Our allergy and asthma clinic serving Midtown Houston provides comprehensive, board-certified care for the busy professionals, students, and young families who call the inner loop home. Whether you live in Midtown proper, Montrose, the Museum District, EaDo, the Heights, or Downtown — covering ZIP codes 77002, 77003, 77004, 77006, and surrounding areas — you face a unique allergen mix that often goes unrecognized: urban tree pollen from older oaks and pecans lining the boulevards, vehicle emissions and ozone that worsen asthma and rhinitis, and high indoor allergen loads in older apartments and townhomes (dust mite, cockroach, mold). We help you cut through symptoms and get back to your day.

Our Mission

We offer the complete range of allergy testing at our clinic — environmental skin prick testing, food allergy testing, drug allergy evaluation including penicillin de-labeling (especially helpful for adults who’ve been carrying a ‘penicillin allergy’ label since childhood that may no longer apply), venom testing, and patch testing. Most testing is completed in one visit with results reviewed the same day. For long-term relief, we provide customized allergen immunotherapy (allergy shots and sublingual options), which is often life-changing for Midtown residents whose lives revolve around walking, biking, restaurant patios, and outdoor festivals.

Asthma care is a major focus of our Midtown practice. Air quality in the inner loop is influenced by ozone, particulate matter, ship channel emissions, and the dense traffic of I-45, I-69, and 288 — all of which can worsen asthma even in patients with relatively mild allergies. We use objective testing including spirometry
and FeNO to confirm asthma, distinguish it from vocal cord dysfunction or anxiety-related breathing patterns, and tailor controller therapy. For patients with severe, biologic-eligible asthma, eosinophilic asthma, nasal polyps, or atopic dermatitis, we administer Dupixent, Xolair, Nucala, Fasenra, and Tezspire in-office, on schedule.

FAQs

Common Questions

Yes. Ozone, particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, and diesel particulates — all of which are elevated in inner-loop Houston — have been shown to worsen asthma control, increase nasal inflammation, and even drive new sensitization to outdoor allergens. Patients with underlying allergic disease are particularly vulnerable.
Yes — this is one of our most valuable services. About 90% of adults labeled ‘penicillin-allergic’ are not actually allergic when tested. Carrying a false label leads to use of broader, more expensive, and often less effective antibiotics. We offer penicillin allergy testing and supervised oral challenge to formally remove the label when appropriate.
Yes. Established patients can do follow-up visits for asthma management, immunotherapy progress checks, eczema, hives, and medication reviews via telehealth. New patient evaluations and any visit requiring testing or in-office treatment must be in person.
Yes. Adult-onset food allergy is increasingly common and includes oral allergy syndrome (cross-reactivity between pollens and raw fruits/vegetables), alpha-gal syndrome (red meat allergy from tick bites), and shellfish allergy. We evaluate all of these and create realistic management plans.
Many of our Midtown patients ask this. The honest answer: if your allergies are mild and easily managed by occasional antihistamine use, probably not. If you’re on daily medication, missing work or workouts, or having recurrent sinus infections, immunotherapy is likely worth it — appointments take about 30 minutes and many patients drop them in over a lunch break.
Our office provides convenient parking and is easily reachable from the Midtown METRORail stops and major inner-loop arteries. Please call ahead or check our website for specific directions and parking information for your visit.
