Symptoms of Insect Sting Allergies
Symptoms can vary from person to person and may develop within minutes after a sting. Watch for these signs:

- Facial, lip, tongue, or throat swelling

Clinical Allergy Testing
We do skin-prick or intradermal testing to help identify potential venom allergens responsible for allergic reactions. Allergy tests introduce small amounts of purified venom under the skin to safely identify your exact triggers and steer the correct treatment your way.
Blood Testing (Specific IgE)
If skin testing isn’t possible, we measure venom-specific IgE antibodies in blood. It complements skin results and confirms allergy diagnosis before starting treatment.
Venom Immunotherapy (VIT)
Venom immunotherapy is an ongoing therapy that aims to reduce immune sensitivity to insect venom through controlled, gradually increasing doses. The therapy typically begins with a build-up phase of gradually increasing doses, followed by maintenance injections given at longer intervals, often transitioning to monthly dosing. VIT decreases the risk of severe reactions and improves long-term safety.
Emergency Preparedness
Patients at risk for serious reactions may be prescribed an epinephrine auto-injector and provided with an emergency action plan. Education on recognizing symptoms and responding quickly is an important part of care.
